This article reviews the integration between National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and the different ways to incorporate enrollment data into Overgrad. NSC integration is only available for Overgrad Success customers. Please connect with an Overgrad rep to learn more.

Integration Types and Processes

There are three options to integrate NSC data into Overgrad. Each type is listed below, along with the necessary steps to submit the graduate file and access the enrollment file.

  • Automated: The school or district uses Overgrad to both submit and retrieve required and processed data
    • Creating and submitting the graduate file
      • Overgrad creates the enrollment file from student accounts previously uploaded through an automated process; this requires schools/districts to upload student information into Overgrad to create and format the file per NSC specifications
      • Overgrad submits the correctly formatted alumni file using our SFTP access server
    • Accessing and importing the enrollment file
      • Overgrad receives an automated notification when the enrollment file is ready
      • Overgrad logs into our SFTP access server to download the file and upload it to Overgrad
  • Manual: The school or district manages the entire submission and access process, sending only the raw enrollment file to Overgrad
    • Creating and submitting the graduate file
      • The school or district formats and submits the alumni file directly to NSC using their own SFTP access server
    • Accessing and importing the enrollment file
      • The school or district logs into their secure SFTP access server to download the enrollment file
      • The school or district securely sends the file to Overgrad for manual upload
  • Hybrid: The school or district adds Overgrad as an authorized user on their account to submit and access data on their behalf
    • Creating and submitting the graduate file
      • If the school or district chooses to create Overgrad accounts for their students, Overgrad can create and format the graduate file, then use a unique login to access the school's SFTP access server for NSC
      • If the school or district chooses not to create Overgrad accounts for their students, the school or district formats and submits the alumni file directly to NSC using their own SFTP access server
    • Accessing and importing the enrollment file
      • Overgrad will receive an email from NSC when the enrollment file has been uploaded to the school or district's SFTP access server
      • Overgrad uses a unique login to access the school's SFTP access server for NSC to download the file and upload it to Overgrad
