How can educators view, add, or remove FRNYC status for students?
Educators can view students who are currently tagged as FRNYC using the pre-built custom student list from the Overgrad homepage. On the left-hand side, under Custom Lists, selecting FRNYC KIMs and then Student List will display all students who are currently marked as FRNYC.

An initial upload flagging FRNYC students was completed for you at the start of the school year. It is not directly fed from STARS so schools should maintain the integrity of the list as students are added and removed in order to accurately monitor progress.
FRNYC status can be updated at the student level by editing an individual student’s profile, or in bulk using a file upload when multiple students need to be added or removed at once.
Individual Updates
- Search for a student in the Search Students bar.
- From the student's page, navigate to the Profile tab.
- In the Academics section, scroll down to School Pilot. Click on the pencil to edit the field and the checkmark to save changes.

Bulk Updates
Pre-work: Prepare your CSV file
To update student accounts to reflect FRNYC status, your CSV must include either Student ID or Email to identify records. You can:
- Export class lists (Report 3.07) from STARS Admin, or
- Build the CSV file manually in Excel or Google Sheets based on an existing FRNYC list. Template available here.
To update your FRNYC roster via bulk upload, your CSV file must contain a column titled School Pilot, where you will mark the students as FRNYC or not. All supported fields are listed on the Student Importer page.
- Upload File
- In Overgrad, click your name and go to Your Name > School Account > Data Imports > Import/Update Students.
- Click Choose File and select your CSV.
- Set Headers
- Match School Pilot to the column in your CSV that contains FRNYC status.
- Select how students should be identified (Student ID and/or Email).
- Only include the students and fields you intend to update.
- Map Values
- If your CSV uses coded values for FRNYC status, map them to the correct Overgrad values in the School Pilot field (e.g., Yes → FRNYC).
- Process File
- Choose whether to send welcome emails (typically No for updates).
- Review and submit.
