Note: This article is meant to provide students with the steps they need to take to resolve a specific error that can occur when counselors send documents from Overgrad to Common App. Once the steps listed below have been completed, please email email@example.com to let us know that we can attempt to send the document(s) again.
If you see an error message stating ‘FERPA not complete in Common App” when attempting to send documents, that indicates the student has not completed the FERPA waiver required by Common App in order to successfully send documents from Overgrad to Common App.
The student will need to complete the steps on this page before Overgrad can successfully send documents.
If your counselor or someone from Overgrad asked you to follow these steps, it is because you have not yet completed your FERPA waiver in Common App. This prevents Overgrad from being able to send your admission documents like your counselor recommendation, teacher evaluations, school report, fee waivers, etc to Common App. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Once logged into Common App select the My Colleges tab
Step 2: Select Recommenders and FERPA tab on the left hand side
Step 3: Select Complete Release Authorization
Step 4: Select the box acknowledging your Release Authorization
Step 5: Select one of the two options to Waive Rights or NOT Waive Rights. Check the understanding box. Provide your signature and date, select Save and Close.
Step 6: The action is completed when you have a green checkmark. Reach out to your counselor to let them know that you have completed your FERPA Waiver.
